This year’s theme for the annual Walt Whitman Birthplace Association is “A Noiseless Patient Spider.” 

The deadline for your poem is March 15th!

February is Black History Month!

Today we honor Garrett Morgan. 

Garrett Morgan is most famous for inventing the gas mask, or smoke hood, and the three-way traffic signal.  Both are crucial safety inventions that  saved lives and improved public order.  The gas mask was notable used in a 1916 dramatic tunnel rescue of workers.  The traffic signal was sold to General Electric and became the basis for modern lights.
