    Mission Statement:

    The Rockville Centre Schools Physical and Health Education Program provides the opportunities for all students to develop healthy lifelong wellness through respect, honesty, and positive relationships. Our mission is to empower students to lead healthy, active lives by providing a comprehensive physical and health education program that fosters lifelong learning. Through a curriculum grounded in New York State Standards, we strive to develop students’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being, encouraging personal responsibility, critical thinking and a commitment to fitness. We aim to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions, overcome challenges, and thrive in both school and throughout their lives.

     

    Goals:

    Elementary

    - Competency in fundamental motor skills

    - Use and understand basic concepts in movements and fitness

    - Identify healthy and positive lifestyle concepts

    - Exhibit and establish acts of sportsmanship and respect

    Middle School

    - Apply strategies to be successful in various team and individual sports

    - Demonstrate fundamental movement skills in various concepts

    - Design and implement a health-enhancing fitness program

    - Successfully exhibiting positive encouragement to classmates and demonstrating behaviors that brings joy within physical activity

    High School

    - Explore lifetime activities and pursue interests outside of the school environment

    - Encourage students to maintain lifelong fitness

    - Students will have the ability to successfully plan and implement various types of personal fitness programs

    - Describe and explain key concepts directly related to the successful participation in various team and individual sports

    - Model respectful and responsible behavior while engaged in all aspects of physical activities

     

     

     

     

     

    Physical Education

     

    Physical Education is a required annual course designed to help students grow physically, socially, and emotionally. In this program, students participate in a wide variety of activities that build fundamental skills and encourage a lifetime of health and fitness. By exploring different sports and movement styles, students will discover new strengths, develop teamwork skills, and build a foundation for a healthy future. Every student is included, challenged, and supported as they work toward their personal best.
